Hawkins Hideout: Grand Re-Opening!

One of our beloved local venues, Hawkins Hideout, is set to re-open on August 8th at 10pm! We reached out to one of the owners, Travis Hildebrand, to get some information about Hawkins Hideout and a bit of history about the place. While Travis was not available to speak in person (he's so swamped trying to get the venue up and running) he was generous enough to answer our questions through text.

LSD: So, Hawkins Hideout has been a recent staple for the metal-heads and music lovers in the city. When did you first open, and what started the famed Metal Mondays? T: So The Hideout started as the Tequi-La-La and was opened by a man named Mo Moritz. Mo started the Metal Mondays and then went to an owner named Alex Taylor, who then passed it to my wife Hattie and I. LSD: So you've kept up the tradition, it sounds like! When did it turn over to the Hideout (approx), and what big names have you hosted there, entertainment wise? T: We took the business over May 12th of this year and the name change took effect May 17th. It was in honor of our late friend Alex Hawkins who passed away around the same time we were taking over the business. LSD: That's a very cool way of keeping their spirit alive. So Metal Mondays are back (I hope), are there any other big plans you have once you re-open? T: We have held other special events in the past and we plan to continue that trend. Our past events include a music showcase of femme artists, as well as a celebration of LGBTQ+ artists for LS's Pride Day. We are also open for rentals and bookings.

LSD: Thank you for bringing that kind of attention and support to our community-- I for one appreciate it. Last question-- What would you tell someone to expect at The Hideout if they've never been there before? Any drink recommendations or DJs they should try to catch? T: Our resident DJ, Jason, is extremely entertaining. He's the reason Metal Mondays are so popular. As far as drinks go, we recently lost our supplier of our Headbanger Pilsner, but expect that to come back when we can source another distributor. So there you have it, Los Santos-- make sure to visit Hawkins Hideout for their grand re-opening on August 8th. Make sure to look them up on the directory and support another wonderful local business!
